Get to Know

Heidi Sinsley

Heidi is a wife, mom, attorney, and community advocate who stands up for those without a voice. The daughter of an engineer and a stay-at-home mom, she comes from a proud family of service: one grandfather was a World War II chaplain and Army lieutenant, and the other a gunner in the legendary Bloody Hundredth unit featured in Masters of the Air. Her uncle, a Vietnam veteran, has battled lifelong health issues from Agent Orange exposure and inspired Heidi’s passion for justice.

Growing up, Heidi saw how illness, disability, and poverty affect families. When her father was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease during her teenage years, he was labeled “uninsurable.” Seeing her parents struggle with the costs of his care showed Heidi how broken the system can be—and inspired her lifelong fight to make sure no family loses care because of illness.

A proud public-school graduate, Heidi knows how strong schools build strong communities. She thrived in music, sports, and academics, and became her district’s first high-school biology teaching assistant. Many of her friends relied on free or reduced-price school meals, teaching her early on how much full bellies matter for happy, focused children. READ MORE →
