About Heidi Sinsley

Heidi is a wife, mom, attorney, and community advocate who stands up for those without a voice. The daughter of an engineer and a stay-at-home mom, she comes from a proud family of service: one grandfather was a World War II chaplain and Army lieutenant, and the other a gunner in the legendary Bloody Hundredth unit featured in Masters of the Air. Her uncle, a Vietnam veteran, has battled lifelong health issues from Agent Orange exposure and inspired Heidi’s passion for justice.

Growing up, Heidi saw how illness, disability, and poverty affect families. When her father was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease during her teenage years, he was labeled “uninsurable.” Seeing her parents struggle with the costs of his care showed Heidi how broken the system can be—and inspired her lifelong fight to make sure no family loses care because of illness.

A proud public-school graduate, Heidi knows how strong schools build strong communities. She thrived in music, sports, and academics, and became her district’s first high-school biology teaching assistant. Many of her friends relied on free or reduced-price school meals, teaching her early on how much full bellies matter for happy, focused children. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay in 2014, where she discovered her talent for constitutional law, and went on to earn her law degree from the University of South Carolina in 2021.

While in law school, Heidi worked for the South Carolina House of Representatives Legislative Oversight Committee—an award-winning bipartisan body that audits state agencies for efficiency and accountability. She later practiced insurance, real estate, and estate law, earning multiple North Carolina Supreme Court awards for her extensive pro bono service.

Service has always been at the heart of Heidi’s life. She has volunteered in schools, shelters, and legal aid programs, and continues to advocate for working families, veterans, and children.

Heidi and her husband, Harris, live in Stallings with their daughter, Amelia—born after three difficult rounds of IVF. During her pregnancy, Heidi experienced severe hyperemesis and gestational diabetes, deepening her understanding of how unfair and expensive the healthcare system can be. She now serves with School Meals for All NC and fosters dogs for a local animal shelter. Their home is filled with love, laughter, three rescue cats, and one “foster-fail” dog.
